I was commissioned by StAnza to write a poem in response to a craftwork which was gifted to me by potter Jo Walker, as part of Poetrytreat – a little ceramic bird.

The poems and craftworks were exhibited as part of the festival; I traveled north to take part in a meet the artist event, and had a fantastic weekend checking out the huge range of wonderful events and exhibitions, and becoming a last minute entry in the StAnza Slam (I came third).

I was particularly excited about this one as I have been experimenting with combining poetry and ceramics – it was an interesting and inspiring challenge to collaborate and respond to a professional potter. The little bird now lives on my bookshelf.
